01-01-70 : Club Dinner and Awards Night

Stewart Fraser has kindly agreed to organise this. It will be an informal, celebratory occasion and will take place in St Alban's Hall on the evening of 15 March with tickets at (probably) £10 a head. Guests of club members are warmly invited. Details will be confirmed but in outline we envisage a 'pie and mash' meal and we will be running a bar. 15 March is the last scheduled date for all league matches and we'll incorporate something appropriate accordingly. We want this to be an upbeat all-club evening and therefore we are looking for a high turn out from across the entire club, plus guests too. So please put the date aside now. The captains/ Stewart / Jonathan will be in touch about how to sign up for the evening. The occasion of the club dinner will also be this season's awards evening. The Awards represent a longstanding club tradition that we wish to enhance for 2007-8. The Committee is meeting on 4 March to discuss the awards, and before then we want all members to be involved and to participate by making nominations. Please do so before 4 March either through your captain, or direct to Jonathan or me. We should like to see a number of nominations coming from all the teams. The categories have been expanded and are: - Golden Stick Award (club top scorer for the season - not open for nomination) - Most Improved Player of the Year (any age, any team) - Young Player of the Year (under 21, any team) - Veterans Player of the Year (age 40+, any team) - Player of the Year (any age, any team) - Clubman of the year (open to anyone associated with the club, any age). We would also welcome suggestions from you all for 'champagne moment' and/or novelty awards. These are fun awards and could be for just about anything... At least one suggestion coming from each team would be good.
